Bachelor of Engineering, University of Cooperative Education

Information about training and studies
Pre-Requisite:
General or technically-related University-entrance qualification (Abitur <German school leaving certificate>average at least 2.5). Good achievements in natural-science subjects. Completed military/community service.

Exchange Training:
The six study semesters divide up into theoretical and (dual system) practical training periods each of 12 weeks' duration.
A 3 months commercial trainee placement period precedes the study.

Qualification Profile Electronic Engineering:
In the basic curriculum, in addition to general electronics engineering, mathematical and scientific basic knowledge and work theory is taught. After the assistant examination, the in-depth study of automation technology is offered. Specific highlights here are the conversion of physical sizes into electrical signals, the signal dissemination, and control and regulation engineering. The teaching of knowledge and the process techniques of information technology play an essential role in this task area. Through the close association between the training at the professional academy and the training companies, a coherent, scientific and practically oriented study course has been achieved.

Qualification Profile Mechatronics:
Optimised solutions for many technical problems can only be discovered when we think outside the boundaries of a specific technical field. Therefore innovations in the technical sector assume that, in additional to mechanical construction, the possibilities of electronic engineering and control engineering are optimally used. The mechatronics study plan therefore includes in equal proportions, in addition to the general scientific principles, mechanical engineering, electronic engineering and information technology content. The objective of the study course is to train qualified engineers who are working professionally at the interfaces of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, automation and information technology. Due to their broad training they can be deployed in many sectors.

Qualification Profile Mechanical Engineering:
The study imparts the theoretical and practical tools and skills in order to be able to successfully work with the extraordinary variety of types of tasks associated with the development of machines, machine plants and metal construction projects. For qualified engineers (BA) in professional practice there is a wide spectrum of employment opportunities in construction, technical trials and testing, production, project work, sales and customer consultancy. The knowledge required for the scientific and engineering methods and processes including modern IT techniques and the basic principles of business administration are learnt at the professional academy.

Qualification Profile Information Technology:
The qualified engineer in the technical sector of information technology has the ability to convert scientific knowledge into uses that are currently required. His technical competence comprises a basic knowledge of information technology and related engineering knowledge. This enables him to design, develop, select, adapt, introduce and support information technology systems. His technical, methodical and social expertise enables him to be productive immediately after completing his studies in the company sectors of development, production, service, marketing/sales.

Qualification Profile Technical Sales Management:
The qualified engineer (BA) in the technical sector of industrial engineering with an emphasis on technical sales management has the ability to convert scientific knowledge into uses that are currently required. His technical competence includes a basic knowledge of technical and business management processes. This enables him to present a technical and commercial view of a problem and to offer a solution. After completing this dual study course the student is immediately employable in the areas of technical sales and purchasing, product management, marketing, project development, maintenance and service. Through systematic practical approaches he/she also acquires a high level of social and methodology expertise.
