Industrial Mechanic

Training Duration:
3 1/2 years

School Education:
Secondary School, Vocational School, Middle School

Fields of Activity:
The work areas include the manufacture, assembly, testing, commissioning, maintenance, inspection and repair of apparatus, manufacturing and assembly aids. Due to the interplay of mechanical, pneumatic and electronically small components and their drive mechanisms, the requirements for accurate work are high. Areas of employment are primarily prototype building, individual and small-batch production, assembly, quality assurance and service.

Training Content:
- Planning and direction of work and movement sequences, controlling and
  assessment of the results.
- Manual and mechanical metal cutting and the creation of programmes for
  digitally controlled machine tools.
- Construction and testing of pneumatic circuit connections, containment
  and elimination of errors and interferences.
- Construction and testing of circuit connections of the control engineering
  with electro-mechanical or electro-pneumatic components.
- Manufacture and assembly of components and assembly groups taking
  different manufacturing processes into consideration.
- Industrial safety, environmental protection and rational energy use.

Vocational College:
Training-supportive teaching 1 1/2 days per week

Intermediate Examination:
At the end of the 3rd training half-year, the theoretical knowledge is tested through programmed tasks and the practical skills are tested through the autonomous production of a component within a given time limit.

Final Examination: :
Written knowledge test in the studied subjects, practical skills examination in front of an examination committee of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in a neutral location.
